Hello everyone!!! Thanks for all your sweet emails you guys make me so happy!!
This week was pretty crazy - I get to stay here in Boa Vista and train a sweet new sister!
I am so excited and super nervous haha. My companion will get here in a couple weeks from the MTC and in the mean time I will be with a girl from Manaus that is on a `short mission` to see what a mission is all about! I'm excited to show her the ropes here in the best zone of all time. But she still hasn't flown in yet so this week I think I am going to be in a threesome with the other sisters in my zone and will make divisions with members of the ward to keep up the work in our area. Craziness but I'm super excited :)
João Marcos was baptized and confirmed woo hoo!!!! He was sweet and like so happy. His girlfriend who is a member spoke at his baptizm and we sang a duet and it was the sweetest thing ever. I love baptisms. They are a key to happiness in life.
Okay so this week I had an interesting experience!! So our recent convert, Gabriel, brought a friend to church yesterday and I got his info and set up an appointment and we were super excited! But while we were talking about the church I started teaching him about the Restoration. He then told me that he had zero desire to be baptized into our church. I was so surprised like what the heck we weren't even talking about that! But I continued with the lesson and then felt prompted to invite him to be baptized. In my mind I kept telling myself "ummm it's way too early and he just said he doesn't want to!" But the prompting came again, even stronger and so I asked him if he would be baptized. He just stared at me for a second and then said, "yes I do want to be baptized." whatttttt. We continued with the lesson and I felt prompted to ask him to be baptized Sunday. In my mind I again thought like seriously okay no haha. But the prompting continued so I asked him and he paused for a minute and said "yes that will be perfect." MIRACLES ARE REAL!!!!!! So we are super stoked and I'm going to work with him this week and we will see what happens :)
We are also working with this sweet elderly man Arnoldo. His wife died a couple years ago and so he is working now. He told us all week that he was so excited to come to curch but guess what he didn't come. It's so frustrating sometimes! So I told Sister Dos Santos that I am tired of everyone saying they will come to church and then not show so we decided to go pick them up right before Sacrament meeting rather than at 8 o'clock because no one wants to wake up. So thats what we did and it worked :) Now I think they will be more likely to come on time!! But yes Arnoldo is the best and came late and met everyone and will be baptized in a couple weeks. :)
I think I'm getting used to the heat honestly so I'm super happy about that especially because the heat is only going to intensify over the next few months. I'm super excited to stay here with these awesome ward members and our investigators. I love them so much.
That's all I have time to write today guys I love you so much!!!
