Olá meus amigos e familias!!!!!!!! I hope everything is going awesome where you guys are at!! I am so grateful for all of your wonderful examples and emails and love you guys - you are actually the best!!!!!
This week was really great even though our three baptisms fell through at the last minute. Like the very last minute. Like they were firm until two hours before. It's kind of long story and even though it was pretty disappointing because we really believed they were ready and excited I know that the Lord is always watching over us and guiding our footsteps. And we are hoping they will be ready in just a couple more weeks :) But anyways...
This week was so fun!! We got to spend time with our Mission Presidents!!! Since we are a zone 12 hours away from the mission home it doesn't happen very often so it was a really great weekend. P.S. did you guys know my mission president read the whole Doctrine and Covenants before he was baptised!?? Seriously he's amazing. I love them so much and we had trainings and interviews with them this week!! I feel so blessed to have them as my presidents. They are always encouraging and inspiring us in everything and we are so so so lucky!!! They came and spoke during our district conference and it's so awesome how they know the scriptures inside and out and when they talk we can't tell if they are talking or reciting scriptures because they just have so much memorized hahaha I love it!!!They are respected and loved so much by all the members here in Boa Vista - it's amazing to watch. Hearing them bear their powerful testimonies of the restored gospel was such a treat.
I GOT ALL YOUR PACKAGES AND LETTERS AND I ALMOST CRIED WITH HAPPINESS ah seriously I love you all so much!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone was so jealous hahaha but seriously thank you so much for all the hand written letters - they are the best ever and made me so so so so happy. Ah today was super fun we got to hang out with our whole zone and make pizzas and play volleyball (even though the volleyball exploded) and soccer and basketball!!! It was seriously so fun we literally have the best zone ever.
GUYS THIS WEEK I ATE COW STOMACH. Yeah it was about as nasty as it sounds. But this sweet little old lady made us lunch at the last minute because we actually didn't have any and she brought it out and said "I made you lunch but I don't think you willl like it!!! And of course my comp volunteers to try it even though I as perfectly content with just sticking to the rice and beans. I tried some but was able to eat taste it. I was terrified mainly because I have heard horror stories from other missionaries about what I will be eating here. And then she told us and I will admit it wasn't as bad as it could have been like turtle or something really nasty...
Oh also I found two cockroaches living in my running shoes (maaayyyybe i need to go running more often hahaha)
Ah this week is gonna be awesome!! We have zone training tomorrow and then this week we get to go on divisions with sister training leaders from Manaus!! So we are going to get lots lots lots done this week I am super excited. And then the next week is gonna be the longest week of my life because next sunday WE GET TO SKYPE <333 guys I am so stoked.
This week we met a FAMILY INCREDIBLE and they asked us what they need to do to become members of the church!!! They came with us to District Conference and they have two sweet little boys that are 11 and 15. They are so great and it's a good thing too because it takes us an hour to walk to their house because they live on the very edge of our area. So we marked dates of baptism with them the last week of this transfer já??????? already????? this transfer is short only 5 weeks!!
My Portuguese is slowly getting a little bit better each day and I am super super grateful for that. I am starting to see the light at the end of this language tunnel because I am starting to correct myself all the time rather than other people and I dont have to think a ton every time I talk!! Ah the gift of tounges is so real guys.
Guyssss I love this gospel so much. Really. This gospel is perfect and our Father in Heaven is perfect. His ways, timing, commandments, plans, teaching, words - everything. He has given us the opportunity to come to this earth to grow and progress and reach our highest potential and ultimately become like Him. I love so much in
Ether 12 when it says "remember that thou hast prepared a house for man even among the mansions of thy Father in which man might have a more excellent hope wherefore men must have hope." I know he is so so happy when we choose the right and when we pray and talk with him. Not talk to Him but with Him. When we study the words in the scripture and treasure them up in our hearts for our lives and use them as a source of strenth and stabalization, and when we serve, teach, and follow our Savior Jesus Christ. I love teaching people about the commandments. I know it's kind of weird but I know that God has given us these commandments for our own benefit and because He loves us so much and wants to protect us. I know that when we choose to followw his only Begotten Son Jesus Christ we will be blessed. My mom sent me an awesome quote that says "If you want to know the Savior go work for Him!" This is so true. Jacob chapter 1 is an awesome example about this how it says that that we really do know of Christ and His Kingdom which is to come and because of this we need to have all intent to do good - clothe the naked, feed the hungry, liberate the captive, and administer to and relieve the sick. We must labor diligently to come unto Christ and partake of the goodness of God. Seriously I love this gospel and being a missionary here in Brazil. It's such a blessing and a privilege.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!!
