Hi Everyone!!!
How are things going back up in the states?? It is hot hot hot hot here in Boa Vista but what can we do!! Bring the message of the restored gospel and baptize is what we can do. This week was awesome!!! We had another wedding and a baptism for a man named Carlos!! He is so awesome and we have gotten to be really close with his whole family. We helped them with their wedding plans and decoratios and everything as well!!
This week we are going to baptize a girl named Rosenette. She is 19 and loves coming to church and activities with us. Her family has been sitting in on our lessons too so we are hoping to baptize the family as well!! Elberson and Carlos were both confirmed and recieved the priesthood! Ah so powerful I love it.
Ah so many crazy experiences this week haha. One day we were at a members house for lunch eating beans and rice and fish (of course right!) things were great. Well then this guy brought out a huge thing of bananas and I thought ah yes I love bananas. So I took one and opened it and started eating it! I then realized that everyone was staring at me and someone said to me "um no here we cut it up and put it in our rice and beans". I just said oh that's ok I think i will just eat mine separate hahaha.
This week I also personally witnessed a cockroach being devoured by ants in our bathroom, as well as a huge spider on my pillow just seconds before I was supposed to go to bed. Awesome!
Ah sweetest experience ever though. So we had an appt marked with one of our investigators and we got to the house and these two girls said she wasn't home but that we could teach them! So we sat and taught an 18 year old girl and her younger sister who is 15. They loved our message and committed to baptism! Then we asked the 15 year old girl to say the prayer and she prayed that the missionaries wouldn't forget about them or their baptism. Seriously my comp and I wanted to cry it was so sweet. ah!
Kyle sounds like he is doing so good! I'm so proud of you buddy. Go out on splits with the missionaries :) Every day when the kids get done with school we go and pick up one of the youth up to come with us to our lessons. They give the sweetest testimonies about the Book of Mormon and tithing and the Spirit is so strong with them. One of them that went with us this week was a recent convert who is preparing to receive the priesthood!
Ah this week my comp and I were walking and found a family and got their information. At first we just thought they were another familiy that we can make an appt with to come teach but then all of a sudden the mom says, "oh what you guys are the mormons???" and we said yes! Have you heard of us before?? And she said yes!! I want to be Mormon and I want all my children to be as well. Then she told us her oldest daughter lives in Germany with her dad right now and asked if we could send missionaries there to teach them because she wants her to be married in our temple. UM OF COURSE IS THIS EVEN A QUESTION???? ah miracles guys. Being a misisonary is the best.
This week we got to go watch the Relief Society broadcast. Before I was talking to a member for a while and after she asked me how long I've been on a mission. I told her I am 4 weeks out of the mtc and she said she COULD NOT BELIEVE me because my Portuguese sounds so good!!!! and that seriously made my day.
I hope you all loved the General Relief Society broadcast as much as I did!! I was able to watch part of it in English and the talks were so powerful. I loved how every single person talked about the importance of family and builidng our family lives around the Savior Jesus Christ. As a missionary I have gotten to see how much the gospel can bless families when they live its principles. Our families are so important - they are the central unit in our Heavenly Father's plan for us. It is such an incredible blessing we have in our lives. I don't know what in the world I did to deserve the best family in the entire world but I have them and I'm so grateful for them!! I loved how President Erying made a connection to families and our own personal journey back to our Father in Heaven. Families give us the opportunity to grow and learn in the gospel together. He said no matter how hard the journey home may seem we have our loving Savior Jesus Christ who in his last few hours before he ascended back to heaven knew that our journey would be hard. But this is why in John 14 he said I will pray unto the Father and he shall bless you with the comforter that he may abide with you forever. I will not leave you comfortless and will teach you all things and bring all things to your rememberance. Peace I leave with you and my peace I give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid. What an amazing promise. I love the scriptures and all the things we learn from our prophets!! Listen to their words this weekend and let the Spirit teach you :)
Thank you so much for all your love and support and emails you guys are the best!!!
