Hello everyone!!!!!!!! I loved all your emails this week - you guys are so thoughtful seriously!!!!
GUESS WHO WAS BAPTIZED - THAT'S RIGHT GABRIEL!!!!!!!!!!! That is seriously a miracle in and of itself everyone. He has worked so unbelievably hard and his story is amazing. I am so happy to have gotten to know him! The story is a little funny... His mom is not active and lives in another state and I've never met her before. Gabriel lives with his brother. But she randomly visited this week... the week he was going to be baptized. The elders came with us to give him an interview and they didn't know that she didn't know that we were hoping to baptize him. One elder slipped and told her and we were a little bit nervous because we had heard she had harsh feelings against the church. But after she found out that he had received the lessons she told us that the only thing she wants is for her boys to be baptized and be faithful members of the church and not follow her example.... Seriously we were like sitting there with our jaws dropped. Then when Gabriel came out of the interview he said "okay guys I'm ready to be baptized!" His mom flew her arms up in the air and gave him the biggest hug and I actually wanted to cry. Then she came to his baptism and came back to the church. She told us she thinks she will come back to help her boys out. Her other son was baptized last year but has become inactive. Now because of Gabriel he said he wants to clean up and prepare for a mission with his brother next year. MIRACLE.
Then!!! Sunday my comp and I were a little discouraged because we woke up early to pick up´all of our investigators for church and none of them came. We went to at least 8 houses. But then we got to church and had some other visitors so we were thankful. There was an elderly lady there that I didn't recognize and I asked someone about her. I was told she used to come to church for a long time but was never baptized. I went over and talked to her and invited her to be be baptized on Saturday and she told me the only thing she wants in this world is to be baptized into our church. She said, "Well I was baptized into another church many years ago (and I thought oh joy here we go I'm going to need to teach about authority) and then before I said anything she said "Would it be all right if I could be baptized again into this church?" UM OF COURSE THAT'S WHY WE'RE HERE!!! It was the sweetest thing ever and an absolute MIRACLE. She watched Gabriel recive the Gift of the Holy Ghost and said "àh yes this is what i want!!"`
Um yeah my comp ate an ant the size of my finger and threw up - hahahaha funniest thing ever. We were at this sweet sweet members house and she said she just got back from a trip to Venezuela and brought back some hot sauce. My comp is obsessed with the hot sauces here and I will admit they have grown on me - I actually like them now :) But for some reason I told her that I was good for that day and my comp could just try it. Turns out this hot sauce... it's made of ants. And then she pulled out some nasty ants for us to try and my comp ate it straight up. ah man I'm so lucky I said no.
Today we played volley ball and soccer in the absolute POURING soaking rain and it was like some of the funnest times I've had out here. I love my mission so much and our zone is the best.
I am so incredibly grateful for my Father in Heaven for entrusting me with this sacred calling and teaching me so much at the same time. This gospel is true. Live it. Breathe it. Embrace it. Also study hard. I never knew I would love studying the scriptures so much. They are the words of God and have answers to all the questions we have in this life.
Love you all thanks for all your support :))))
