Hello everyone!!!! Ah this week was so good. This week was pretty chill for us just a week of work work work!
I SAW A HUGE IGUANA THIS WEEK SERIOUSLY THE SIZE OF A BABY DINOSAUR. It was so beautiful!! And of course we didn't have our cameras so you will all just have to take my word for it :)
Literally got caught in the biggest rainstorm I have ever witnessed IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. Guys like the rain here is different. It hurts because the drops are so big! And it's literally just like walking into a full blown shower. My mish so far has still been a little unreal but this night I literally felt like holy moly I'm actually in the middle of the Amazon. But big rain storms bring massive mosquitos so that has been so wonderful this week <3 We were late for a lesson with the Branch President and his daughters boyfriend and we showed up SOAKING because all we could do was run and they came to the door and the first thing she said was hi! would you like something to eat? hahahaha I love the members here so much.
Okay!!! So we have been working with a reference from a member in our ward. I don't know what the heck happend to this couple because they weren't in our area book but they have already had all the lessons and everything just waiting to get married. When we first made contact just to set up an appointment they were like super super closed off and shy. Like my comp and I walked away not really feeling like they liked us. The next time we went they started out super shy as well and made it super clear they already had all the lessons. I felt so strongly that they just needed to know how much we love and them and are here to help them. We gave them a powerful lesson on the Atonement of Jesus Christ and then just simply talked about them. Their lives and different things they are in need of right now. By the end they were laughing so hard and they think my comp and I are hiliarous together and the next time she invited a friend to listen (heck yes a reference from an investigator what what whattttt!!) then the next time she gave us the biggest hug and made us lasagna. THEN THEY CAME TO CHURCH FOR THE FULL 3 HOURS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MONTHS. THEY LOVE US NOW. Guys don't underestimate your ability to get through to people. Sometimes people are shy and insecure. Don't be the same - open up and be yourself. It will always work I promise <3 We have the light of Christ in our lives and we have the spirit. He will touch the hearts of all who are willing to listen.
3 times this week when my comp and I woke up the first thing she said to me was "how was your dream about this and this..." and I was like whaaaaat?? yeah I now talk in my sleep IN PORTUGUESE. What a blessing people. The gift of tounges is so real.
K so this is actually the best ever. The members of our ward are throwing a partyyy ahhh I mean a family home evening for my comps birthday this week wooo wooo!!!!!!!!!!! It was so funny at first it was like ah sweet a little get together and then everyone found out and we were nervous to tell the family that a bunch of people were going to be there and then when we got to church the family made invitations to hand out to everyone!!! hahahaha - they are just so generous.
K last sweetest thing. There are these two little girls in the ward that are like 4 years old. I'm not sure who they belong to. But they always come and find me and I give them lipgloss hahaha. This week one little girl came and found me in our class and sat in the chair next to me and put her head down and fell asleep for like thirty minutes. ISN'T THAT THE CUTEST THING EVER. I am just so happy to be serving the LORD in all the ways he needs :)
Our last baptism fell through. But one thing I am so so grateful for is the words of wisdom in Preach My Gospel that tells us to not be discouraged when our investigators use their agency to choose differently. Of course we obviously are, but it also says to be there for them in everything even when they fall so we made sure that he knows he can always come back and we are not upset with him! He will be baptized within the next month and we are super happy about this. After a powerful lesson about the Atonement of Jesus Christ we set some new goals and have lots of hope for him. I seriously never knew how much I could love my investigators and love feeling the light of Christ change their hearts. I can't even imagine how our Father in Heaven feels! I just want to tell you guys this week to have a little bit more faith. Faith is everything. We need to have a little bit more faith each day in our Father above. He has a plan that is perfect. And we were blessed to be born in a time with this knowledge. Trust him, communicate with him through prayer, have the faith to be obedient to his commandments and be happy. Let him use you as in instrument to bring the light of Christ to others.
LOVE YOU SO MUCH
