Olá everyone!!! This week I don't have very much time to email but I wanted to let you all know I'm doing great and am happy and safe!!!!
This week was super fun. We had our Sister Training Leaders come from Manaus and do divisions with us after our zone conference! We were able to spend more time with families and get so much teaching done with them!! They are the sweetest. I love it when they come and help us and train us to be better and better.
Okay so this week I got proposed to!!! Yeah, my companion and her sister trainer leader found this man in our neighborhood who had seen me and my companion out walking before. He asked them "Where is the American?" So me and my companion went back and taught him on the street because we are not allowed to go inside his house. The whole lesson he kept trying to hold my hand and kept interrupting the lesson to tell me how beautiful I am. I just tried ignoring him and kept teaching the lesson. We talked about following the example of Jesus Christ and he said, "I would follow you anywhere" hahaha My comp had to hold her pamphlet over her face the whole time because she was laughing so hard!!! We tried teaching him again the next day but things did not improve and he shook my hand and said "Please please marry me. I will do anything for you! I will leave everything here and move to the snow in Colorado or wherever you want to go!!" I kept trying to move ahead with the lesson and asked if he had prayed about the things we taught him. He said, "I prayed to God and he told me I have a chance with you and I know this was a real response!!!" And then he tried to kiss me when I went to shake his hand goodbye. It's ok - I have really fast reflexes and my companion has a loud voice and screamed and scared him. It was pretty funny. Maybe the Elders can try to teach him...
We are still working with our investigators and wonderful familes of Tatiana and we are actually doing a service project at their house with the Elders!!! We are painting their house which is actually a huge task hahaha I never knew!! And our investigator Gaylsa accepted a date for baptism and actually called us on the phone and told us that she got a response from God that the church is true!! Ah miracles are so real. We are getting lots of references from the ward members that helps so so so much!!! Give the missionaries references!!!! So those are also our priority this week.
The frog in the pics is named Prince Jack!!! I actually rarely see live frogs - just dead ones on the road. They generally live near the swampy areas and we stay away from those places because of the number of alligators that live there. But this frog was about to die on the side of the road when I rescued it (the road is too hot for them - they die when they try and hop on it) This frog was a baby but we have seen dead ones the size of our heads - no joke they are HUGE. We eventually let this baby frog go but yes I caught a frog and kept it alive for 4 days :)
Okay so my spiritual thought is obviously on missionary work!!! D&C 88:77-81 I love this passage of scripture so much! Elder Ballard has said, "Not only do members have a message of eternal significance but a divine mandate to teach and share with others the Gospel of Jesus Christ it's light and truth in this dark and confused world." So many people understand who Jesus Christ is but not what he has done for him. When we teach people here about the Atonement they have literally never heard the word before. They've never been taught that Jesus suffered for their sins and that through His Gospel they can be happy beyond all measure. So just as the Lord said in Matthew 28:19-20 Share this light and truth with every one you meet. So that one day they can thank you for bringing this light and truth in their lives. I love in 1 Nephi where it says `let us be faithful to him` and helping our Savior and Redeemer in His work by sharing his message with the world. I know that when we do this our own relationship with our Savior is strengthened and we find ourselves happier than we ever thought.
I sure love you all!! I CANT WAIT TO SKYPE MY FAMILY FOR MOTHER'S DAY!!!
Have an incredible week!!!!
