I can't believe another week has gone by . The weeks just seem to mush all together because of how fast the time is going. But I'll just give you all an update on what has been the best transfer of my mission.
First of all, those three girls that we baptized last week were all confirmed and we spent time with them this week at their houses helping them prepare and with some other things. We love them so much. Please everyone keep them in your prayers :)
My companion and I were updating our area book last week and found an old investigator that we had taught together over two months ago. His name is Josiel. We got to the point where he had received all the lessons and was living all the commandments. But after everything we taught him and bore testimonies of and even when members fellowshipped him he wouldn't accept baptism. We were so sad but had to let him go for a while because we had spent so much time and we had others waiting for us. We decided this past week to stop by and invite him to church. After over a month of a break he told us he had missed being at church and the gospel and he was ready to be baptized. Miracle!! Ok, it wasn't that easy but basically that's what happened. I also got a really awesome new zone leader who has made all the difference for us. He is such a good leader and comes out for interviews when we need him to. Sunday Josiel was baptized by the Bishop of this ward. :)
I won't lie, this week was pretty toasty and some days I felt like I didn't stop sweating for even a minute. Even at night it is just so hot and our a/c is broken. But it was all worth it seeing the new light in our recent converts who have born testimony of the gospel and Josiel who is now even thinking of a mission!
Um, ok my companion convinced me to get a "real" Brazilian blow-out and they say it will last four months! I was very skeptical at first because I had never heard of the product. But I'm serious, I'm bringing it home because it has changed my life!
My companion and I recommitted to re-reading the Book of Mormon at the start of the new year and studying it harder each day. This week I was reading about the experiences and trials of Nephi in chapter 7. He says in verse 17 that he prayed to the Lord to help him withstand his situation and develop a solution rather than praying for the Lord to change the things around him. That was a huge reminder for me that our Father has given us our own capacities and gifts and as part of our experience on this earth we need to be willing to grow. I think sometimes we try and pray away our situations without first thinking what is our part and what can the Lord do. I really know that the Lord listens to each of his children and when we specifically pray for things he can help us with, with capacities he can bless us with, and when we are willing to do our part, prayer can become a key personal revelation and direct passageway to peace and happiness from the Holy Ghost. Don't forget, you guys are all doing so much better than you think you are and the Lord each of you so much! Thanks for all you do!
