Hello hello!!!! I'm sorry I don't have a lot of time to email today but thank you so much for all the emails - you guys are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!! This week was crazy to say the least. The transfer kept getting changed and changed again haha but I am here in my new area Guarany and couldn't be more excited!!!. My comp and I are taking on 2 areas this transfer. Yeah two areas... and I thought my little area in Boa Vista was big! We are opening up an area that used to be one of the elders as well as staying in the area that my comp has been in. We need more missionaries!!! But the members here are AWESOME!!!!!! They announced my arrival yesterday at church in both sacrament meetings and have been so so so welcoming. Manauas is HOT but I actually think Boa Vista was hotter. Actually I don't know it's just all hot here. But here it rains more so that will be a huge blessing.
But yes! I flew out here Tuesday and my comp was waiting for me at the secretary office. I'm so excited to be here in Manaus with all these missionaries! There were only 8 of us out in Boa Vista so it will be awesome! Wednesday we worked, then Thursday we had a big training with our Presidents which was actually the best ever!! I love them so so much - they always give the best trainings. We got a huge training on how to give a great talk which was seriously so needed! I was so grateful for that and we just soaked up the words of our Presidents and got super pumped for these next few transfers!!
My comp is Sister Ramos dos Santos. Shes from a state in Brazil called Espirito Santo which actually means Holy Ghost in Portuguese hahaha. She's AWESOME. I'm about a transfer ahead of her on the mish so we're just gonna kill it the next few weeks. This week we are trying to baptize a family of 5. A dad and his four children. Three young men and a young woman. They are actually ex investigators but they came to the church on Sunday and I talked to them and they asked when they can all be baptized. WHOOO HOOO!!!!!!!!! So if everything goes well this week... they will get baptized on Saturday! Because our week was a little limited we had very few options for people to come to church on Sunday. So Sunday morning we were just going crazy inviting everyone and their mom out on the street to come to church and we had so many people say they would just run and errand and then come by and of course they didn't but we still had other people there that are elite so it was ok.
But yess here we take lots and lots and lots of buses!! Oh man guys... the buses are something else hahaha I just feel like I'm in a movie where everyone is flooding in and out of the buses as if they are escaping a natural disaster or something haha. But I still love Brazil so so much!
This week we are going to be working alot with the members to get to know the area better and to help our investigators have a friend at church obviously! They are so sweet. All the youth take turns coming out on splits with us they love it so much!! Seriously being a missionary is like being famous here I love it!! All the women ask you what you like to eat and then when you come to their house they have like what you asked and a million other things hahaha
I tried my first avacado milkshake this week!! It was amazing actually - I am thinking avacados are better sweet after all!
Guys seriously Manaus is the best. These people are the best - I love them. They are so open and loving with me and my companion and even though it's hot and we have so much area to walk every day the people love us and it's all worth it in the end when the Lord literally picks people up and puts them directly in your path. Opening an area is tricky but I've thought alot about the topic of courage this week and I wanted to share a quote from President Monson that I love
"Whatever our calling, regardless of our fears or anxieties, let us pray and then go and do. Courage, not compromise, brings the smile of God's approval."
Love you!!!
